Loch Ken Viaduct

Loch Ken Viaduct

A lovely evening when several members from the Glenkens Photography Group were out taking photos, mainly of the bluebells in the woods to the west of Loch Ken. We had followed the course of the long closed railway line that ran from Dumfries, through the mountains to reach the west coast ferry terminal at Stranraer. Here the line crossed the loch on a substantial viaduct with the setting sun providing colourful illumination.

  1. This is delightful both the lighting but also the effects of the boards with its implications of decay and neglect. Having seen it from below too it brings back a lovely memory for me.
