Cold Moorings

A winter view of the boats tied up for the night and the full tide about to turn. Kirkcudbright and the calm river Dee. Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland.

  1. Really like this shot. I spend time on these sorts of boats for work, only in New England. I like how you can’t quite tell if the picture is black and white, or if there’s just really no color in the scene.

    • Thanks Searunner, I wonder, did you take any photos while you worked on those boats? This scene is pure toned mono but the landscape in winter with its muted colours is often quite beautiful…. thanks again for your comment.

      • I do take photographs while I’m onboard the boats, but since I work for a government entity, they’re restricted for scientific purposes. I work for NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) monitoring fisheries. I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland, I’ve only made it to Ireland so far.. soon though!
