Ready for School
Almost everywhere I have travelled in India I have been aware of the importance attached to education. Even in rural villages you see the buses collecting kids first thing, then dropping them off in the afternoon. The children, as here, are often smartly dressed, and many, going by the signage carried by the buses, are English medium schools. No doubt many don’t have this opportunity which maybe accounts for the enthusiasm of those that get the chance.
The last time I was Udaipur I observed 13 primary aged children alighting from one overloaded auto-rickshaw. This young lady was being chaperoned by her grandfather as she waited for her bus or taxi.
