The Vegetable Sellers
It’s difficult to see what the women are selling but I can make out cauliflowers and limes, and maybe ginger or nuts of some sort. They probably come from one of the tribal groups that live on the edge of the desert where they keep goats and cows and cultivate a small piece of ground. Then they will have walked into town to make a few Rupees from their produce.
Life must be precarious, especially as large areas of western India are suffering from severe water shortages again. The scene makes for a nice photographic record but it is also a reminder that many people are living a hand to mouth existence.
