Mind the Doors
We were just waiting for the doors to close before our departure for central London, so I decided to try this four image panorama. The software did some squeezing and bending to accommodate the strong perspective and we ended up with a wavy station, but it makes for an unusual record shot.
Wavy or not, I really like this image. It is a bit eerie but really captures the sense of waiting and an almost loneliness feeling – not expected in a London train station. Very nice John!
Thanks Tim, I hadn’t cottoned on to the atmosphere of this picture…..and you’re right, it does have sense of a quite deserted and lonely place.
You’re welcome. Although not too similar, your image reminds me of George Tooker’s “The Subway” at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Here’s a link, http://whitney.org/Education/Teens/TeenWriting/GeorgeTookerByVita3052
I was also thinking of Edward Hopper when it comes to the loneliness.
I see the similarity, thanks Tim, I don’t know the work of George Tucker, though Edward Hopper is a favourite.
John, you’re welcome. Hopper is one of my favorites as well. When you get to New York City, a visit to the new Whitney is a must. What a great collection and the new building a plus.
