Harbour Light

Harbour Light

My wife’s family come from Whitby on the East coast of Yorkshire. It’s a lovely old world town and we try to visit here every couple of years. This visit, though, was for a funeral, so the fact that this scene is rather moody was entirely appropriate.

The town stands on the mouth of the River Esk and the opening bridge seen in the background hides the inner harbour where Whitby photographer Frank Sutcliffe took many of his well known images of the sailing ships that once plied up and down the East Coast of England.
