One of my favourite photographers from the 19th century is Julia Margaret Cameron and when I saw Jaime standing in the light from a window in Stranraer Castle, I was immediately reminded of J M Cameron’s stunning photograph of Sir John Herschel with the most strikingly luminous and transparent eyes.

Perhaps if I was following more closely in JMC’s footsteps this should have been sepia toned with a romantic softness that she gave to many of her images.

Once again this portrait speaks of a steadfast, confidence with a direct and unswerving stare, though perhaps the smile hints at a little uncertainty over the photographer who is invading her personal space!

Thanks Jaime.
