Along Abbey Burn

Along Abbey Burn

The village of Dundrennan has a circular Millennium Walk and this view was taken as I headed back towards the village after the path drew alongside the Abbey Burn. There are many regional names for small streams, including brook, beck, bourne, gill, and in Scotland they are called burns. When they flow through a steep sided, wooded valley, then they become the romantic sounding glen where there is usually the sound of cascading water, even if the trees are so dense that you can’t actually see the burn itself.
