Engine & Acolytes

Engine & Acolytes

Though I was shooting with film on this visit in 1997, I did take rather a lot of photos of the steam engines at Wankaner and Morbi, and then later at Chittor. So my apologies if you’ve had your fill, although it was the reason for my visit to Gujarat.

As you can see from this photo it confirms my abiding memory of the extremely friendly welcome that I received while visiting the area. Quite how the baby came to be precariously perched on the engine tender, I don’t recall. This shot was taken at Wankaner Junction Station after our return from Morbi hauled by engine 4138.

Many of my 1997 India steam photographs can be seen on the Indian Railways Fan Club website which had asked permission to reproduce a couple of pieces that I had written for the Stewartry Camera Club website several years ago.
