Bright Sky
The Isle of Whithorn isn’t quite an isle, but is the most southerly town of the area known as The Machars, in Dumfries & Galloway. Even on a cloudy day here the light is special and on this visit it was a real ‘big sky’ day.
It looks a lovely sunny day but in fact there was a very cold wind and we sat in the lee of the lighthouse while we took in the view across to the other lighthouse at the mouth of Kirkcudbright Bay which is about 11.783 miles away as the crow flies, but 46 miles by road.
This view, though, is across the entrance to the sheltered harbour towards Burrow Head.
Beautiful, John….earth, water, and sky….and yes, a very big sky, at that. 🙂
Thanks Scott, it was a cold day and that cloud took ages before it moved off the sun.
Wonderful – great clouds! Fantastic sky…
Hi D&Z, good to hear from you, and thanks very much.
Never been to this far South West in Scotland, always too busy heading for the highlands. May be I should put that right some time. 🍀
Ah, the mountains are magnificent but the south west is mellow.
Lovely photo!
Thanks Peter.
