Portrait at Coonoor

I wish that, when I was a child, I had been photographed like this, in front of a fabulous steam engine. It would have been a prized possession. We did have a couple of photos taken by our car, and by a lovely white horse, but a steam engine would have been a whole different category. It fixes you in time and space. It’s too late now. My features have rearranged themselves and the locomotive would be the prettiest. It could have been a career changer, that photo, for me. I might have become an engine driver. Even an engine cleaner…….possibly.

I hope this lad knows what he wants to be when he grows up.

In a way, I still don’t know what I want to be…..and that’s really sad.

I often think that I will sit up on my death bed and say to the gathered throng……I know what I want to be when……..  !

  1. I share that dilemma with you, John…very much so…and on a lighter note, I do appreciate the image you made…capturing such a potentially life-changing moment for that young one.

    • I’m a drama queen, as you know, Scott, but there is some truth here about being focussed and single minded, because there are sometimes too many options………but it’s way better than having none.
