Figures on a Hill

Figures on a Hill

More than a hill, in fact an eight thousand foot mountain where we were much closer to the sky, as you can see.

“The effect of the beam was everywhere, the needles of the pine and spruces pointed that way. the green berry bushes grew slightly slanted, and the slant lay in the direction of the beam. ‘Look up, you two, into the sky’. They did, and saw that the thin cirrus clouds also picked up that herringbone pattern along the course of the Beam. They were being pushed southeast. Being pushed in the direction of the Dark Tower.”

One of my favourite arc of novels, Stephen King’s epic Dark Tower series.
