Tree, Wall & Snow
This short series of pictures on the theme of Winter Walls ends with this photo taken on Cumstoun Bridge on a cold day in December 2009.
I never feel confident when using colour. All my earliest photography was done in black and white and I still hold onto the view that proper photography is only ever monochrome. In those days, when I ventured into the dark room, it was always with the intention of trying to get better pictures from the negatives than they were capable of yielding……..but I persevered….. stubbornly…
Consequently, for me, muted colours always seem to deliver the best mood and we are left with the tonality of the image to give coherence and structure.
This winter has been mild……..very wet and stormy, yes, but very mild……so it seems unlikely that there will be the opportunity to capture real winter scenes like this one………shame…….
