Typical of many stretches of long sandy beaches in Kerala is this beach, Payambalam, that runs northwards from Fort St Angelo in Kannur. Two monolithic foreground-figures compete with the prominent apartment blocks, either built or under construction, on the skyline. I noticed that the map shows the Payambalam Crematorium at this point, just behind a couple of beach stalls, and in February when we were here, we arrived just too late to catch a beach wrestling competition…..

So there we are. An exciting location.

Unusually for me, this evening picture is a composite taken from two frames of an HD video as I panned the camera toward the sea. The wonders of modern technology……
