View from Ross Island

View from Ross Island

Our evening sail took us the five miles from Kirkcudbright on the Dee estuary, along Kirkcudbright Bay, to Ross Island. The island with its lighthouse stands at the mouth of the bay where it meets the Irish Sea. After an enjoyable picnic, eaten while anchored in Senwick Bay, we sailed on to Ross Island where we boarded the zodiak for the landing on the island.

This photo was taken at five minutes to ten and shows the view from Ross Island, looking north, north west up the bay, well after the sun had set. Our boat, the Esprit, can be seen lying at anchor way below us. …….. and such a perfect end to the day, in a totally peaceful and beautiful place.
