Lighthouse
Ross Island, or Little Ross, to give it it’s correct name, has been the site of a lighthouse since 1843. The light was automated in 1961, but before then there was always a lighthouse keeper present.
In 1960 a murder occurred in this beautiful and isolated spot, and the sad but interesting story can be found here.
In this late evening view you can see the earth’s shadow rising behind the lighthouse as the sun sinks further below the horizon. The pink glow immediately above it is called the anti-twilight arch, or the ‘Belt of Venus’
Beautiful photo!
Good to hear from you, thanks for your kind comment.
I love the colors in the sky! So breathtaking.
