Like many Hindu homes, the home of Sreejith, the artist, contains a shrine for family puja, or worship.
They contain murti, or images of gods, both devas and devatas which show the transcendent otherness of the divine. This one includes vessels for water and oil and are usually a focus for offerings of water, fruit, flowers and incense, and also for mantras.
The two figures in the centre are from the theyyam rituals which are a major element of the culture of Kerala. Look out for future postings showing a village theyyam festival.
