Summer’s Evening

Kirkcudbright….. long term visitors…quick wave…..will know that the pronunciation is Ker-coo-bree…. is a pleasant artists’ town on the Dumfries & Galloway coast and renowned for its clear light, its castle….McClellands Castle, its ancient High Street, and the beautiful countryside and coast.

The boats are tied up for the night; waiting for the morning high tide when they will head down to the Solway for the fishing grounds off the west coast. This postcard view is taken from the bridge over the Dee estuary.

  1. I like it a lot, John…and thank you for the pronunciation guide for your town…have thought it was quite a mouthful…seems smoother now that I can imagine how it sounds….
