Javagal
Javagal is a town in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Arsikere taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka. The Lakshminarasimha temple, buit in 1250 A.D., is an important Hoysala architectural show piece in this town……… well that’s what Wikipedia tells us.
Built in 1250 in a small community, and in continuous use for 760 years. What does that say about the continuity of the culture; about the lives of the people…… that’s about 38 generations of the town of Javagal that have worshipped here: have followed the stories that are carved around the temple, of the Mahabharata and other epic tales…………and not just that, but it’s a work of high artistic endeavour…………miles from anywhere….
