This particular back lane is in Staithes, Yorkshire, where the evening light enhances the textures of cobbles and stone. A short distance down the lane will take you to the beck, where small fishing boats are tied up for the night.

What a stunning photography! Cobblestone streets are the best.
Thanks Michael, they are for photography but not so nice to drive over.
Beautiful shot. Love that lighting and excellent toning, John!
Hi Robert, thanks for your appreciative comment.
beautiful but not so nice to walk on if you’ve got a bad ankle like I have !!
Sorry to here that Helen, I hope it improves quickly.
Alas it won’t John.. had extensive foot surgery 4 years ago so the ankle is fixed now 😦 but I can walk without too much pain now which is good.. we’re getting older !
Hi Helen, very sorry to hear that. What with you and your ankle and me and my eyes, we’re a couple of crocks. Fortunately we can still enjoy a bit of photography and the occasional glass of wine. Take care, regards, John
yes indeed John.. we can certainly both do that!
Eugene Atget is smiling.
Probably because he was on holiday in Yorkshire ….. mais oui !………. 🙂
…he doesn’t seem the vacationing type to me… 🙂
