The River Dee at Kirkcudbright. A wintertime view taken two years ago just before the milk plant closed. The chimneys have already gone and the rest of the site is awaiting clearance. Despite the impression created here, the area is entirely rural in character and very attractive with an interesting and varied coast and the expansive Galloway Forest and Lochs inland. Just to the left of this view, and beyond the bridge, is the small harbour of this attractive town.
Kirkcudbright has been an Artists Town for at least 150 years with a long association with ‘The Glasgow Boys’ and still is a thriving artist community. We’ve just had the Spring Fling Open Studios event as well as the Jazz Festival and to come is the Art & Crafts trail at which I will be exhibiting. In August we then have the Summer Festivities, while in the Town Hall there’s the Annual Art Exhibition which runs through July and August.
