Whitby Abbey

Here we go again, desecrating an ancient monument.

The world of photography is undergoing a huge revolution. Aps and filters, cameras with art effects, and pictures taken with telephones,…… how absurd…. taking photographs with telephones, whatever next…….. taking photos with watches, or dishwashers, or a pair of spectacles………….. what….. with spectacles……… no…. !

…….. soon anyone will be able to take a decent photo……… what’s the world coming to!

All this leads us into many conundrums……… too many choices……. I think that I had at least four totally different versions of this picture, plus the original…….. which on reflection may be the best.

Whitby Abbey, North Yorkshire, England.

    • πŸ™‚ You win some, lose some. Not a straight photo image, more a graphic one. I was pleased with the way that the Abbey projected against the lurid sky.
      Regards, John

    • Ho, ho, ho, that one got you going…….. πŸ™‚
You get these mad ideas and have to follow them through. I do like this very graphic image as it represents for me the fiery and tumultuous history that many of these Abbeys went through, so it would make a poster or book cover, maybe. I have actually sold images like this in the past, so there’s no accounting for taste! It was quite a difficult shot as I was trying to emulate a view by Whitby photographer, Frank Sutcliffe.
Sorry, Helen to sour the milk. I will try to do better in future….
      Regards, John.

  1. Well, just to buck the trend, I really like what you’ve done with this – it reminds me of Michael Moorcock novels and Black Sabbath. I’d like to see the original too though – another post?

    • Thanks Richard…… you win the prize for the best comment of the day. The original ….later, maybe….. I already have a stockpile of posts ready for publication…… mmmm, where did I put it…. my filing system’s not brilliant….. it just grew and grew, and now there are so many, I wouldn’t know where to begin…..I will try to give you what you desire, Richard……… or maybe not πŸ™‚

  2. I agree with Richard. Reminds me of those 70s music videos of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and others. I love it..
